Some of the most important design decisions happen through conversations on site. Drawings are often used as language tools to translate the details we have in mind, but it is clear communication that ultimately shapes how those ideas are built.

Perhaps this is one of the most overlooked parts of construction: how clearly and quickly an architect can translate drawn lines and dimensions into real decisions through negotiation, compromise, and finding the right middle ground between design intention, practicality, budget, and execution.

During the construction process, an architect becomes more than a designer. They become a translator, helping different parties understand one another. Also a navigator, guiding decisions when unexpected situations inevitably arise. Because in reality, buildings are not constructed exactly as drawings, they are continuously interpreted, adjusted, and negotiated.

Which perhaps raises a quiet but important question:

When hiring an architect, are you only hiring someone to design a mere building or someone capable of helping that building survive the complexity of being built?
